Rabat is the political capital and the main administrative center of Morocco, as well as the fourth imperial city. It is a curious mixture of the historical tradition of the past and present modernity. The establishment of Rabat dates back to 12th century by the Sultan Abd Al-Momin, Al Muhads dynasty.
The laid-back Moroccan capital of Rabat is all too often overlooked in favor of its more vibrant neighbors, but the coastal city is more than just a political and administrative center and makes a worthwhile walking day trip to explore all of its historical and cultural attractions the city has to offer for its visitors. Without the frantic traffic jams and frenzied souks that characterize many of Morocco’s big cities, Rabat feels more like a provincial town than a bustling city, but this polite and self-effacing nature is all part of its charm.
