Grand Morocco Tour: 12 Days Desert and Imperial cities from Marrakech

Day 01: Arrival in Marrakech airport and drive to Ouarzazate:

Our driver/guide will be waiting for you in the airport according to your arrival time. As soon as we meet, warmly greet and welcome you to, then we pick you up to start our Grand Morocco Tour driving across High Atlas Mountains with panoramic stops on the way. We cross the highest point of Atlas Mountains which is 2260 meters. Later on, we continue to Kasbah Ait Benhadou which is the exotic fort in Morocco. This site is a UNESCO GLOBAL HERITAGE since 1987 as well as a host for many Hollywood movies. We will walk through the Kasbah to explore its beautiful architecture and enjoy a panoramic view of Ounila Valley. Subsequently, we go ahead to Ouarzazate which is considered to be the capital of Hollywood films. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 02: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Kasbah Amridil – Dades Gorges:

After having your breakfast in the hotel/Riad, we drive through the city of Ouarzazate to discover and immerse within all it has to offer us. The Kasbah of Taourirt downtown is the main site to visit, in the opposite side, the Museum of Cinema is a worth site to visit to see the materials used in movies…later on, we leave Ouarzazate. On the way, we make a stop to visit a beautiful Kasbah called « Amridil ». A kasbah dates back to the 17th centuries believed to be built by Ennasiri Family. After so, we continue via Rose Valley which known for all different products of rose such as: rose water, rose cream, rose oil…ect. Our journey will lead us to Dades Valley to arrive to a geological natural rock shapes called « monkey toes », then we persist to Dades Gorges which provide us with impressive view from the top of mountains. Overnight in Dades.

Day 03: Dades valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (camp in desert):

After having your breakfast, we re-start our trip to Sahara Desert. We will have to visit and see Todra Gorges which is a fabulous natural site worthy to see and have a walk through. After so, we make it to Sahara Desert via Erfoud, known to be the capital of dates and fossils. As we arrive to Merzouga, we shift the vehicle for dromedaries and get ready for adventure. The dromedaries will take us across Erg Chebbi dunes enjoying the sceneries of the area. The sunset view on top of the dunes will be the best experience ever. Arrive to the camp in the middle of dunes, we receive you with a cup of tea as hospitality. Dinner and breakfast will be served in your luxury camp. The tents are well equipped with all needs.

Day 04: Sahara Desert sightseeing:

Wake up early in the morning to attend and enjoy a spectacular sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. Set up over the dunes, waiting for the sun to rise and meanwhile feel the cold morning breeze are feelings you will not find elsewhere but here in the Desert. After so, back to the camp for breakfast and shower, then get ready for free day around Sahara Desert. You will have a unique opportunity to visit Gnaoua village “Black people” originally from Mali, Niger…. They will entertain you with their authentic instruments. After spending a worthwhile moment with Gnaoua; we drive deep in the Desert for a panoramic view that shows the contrast of golden dunes with black volcanic rocks. Later on, a cup of tea with nomad family is worth to explore the way they survive and feel the harshness of life for being a nomad. Back to the village of Merzouga for lunch, and then we check in to the hotel for free time. Night in the hotel.

Day 05: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt:

After having your breakfast at the hotel, your luggage collected, then get ready to leave Sahara Desert for Midelt. Upon our agreed time, we meet you at the reception and drive to Sijilmassa, one of the oldest towns in Morocco. If our visit to this town corresponds the day market (Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday), we will walk through the city. After doing so, we take our direction to Erfoud for fossil’s discovery. We go ahead following our passion towards the North through Tafilalet palm grove, the biggest in the world. You will see thousands of palm trees along the 20km of road. This way leads us to the Ziz valley, whose river comes down from the high Atlas and feeds the palm grove. Here we make a stop and from this high viewpoint, enjoy a magnificent view of the valley. We go ahead driving via the city of Errachidia and the mountains. We will cross High Atlas Mountains to arrive to Midelt where to spend overnight.

Day 06: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fez:

After your breakfast, we pick you up to continue our way through the Cedar Forest where, if we are lucky, we will see some monkeys. The next place we will visit is the city of Ifran, situated in the northwestern slope of the Middle Atlas at 1630 meters altitude. Its broad avenues, its urban development with perfect cleanness, the gardens, the green areas and its architecture make this city look like a Swiss town. Ifran city feels misplaced in Morocco, that is why it’s named the Moroccan Switzerland. We will stop in the city for a rest and coffee. Later on, we carry on our trip to Fez. Overnight in Fez.

Day 07: Grand Morocco Tour:  Fez guided sightseeing:

After breakfast in the Riad, we meet you at the reception and start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets. The walking tour of fez is devided into two parts, the internal and external side. We will star with the external part in which will try to visit the most historical monuments: The Royal Palace gate, the Jewish headquarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, built during the 16th century, the pottery and Zellij tilework…during the internal part of our walk, we will ensure that we cover all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, the Tanneries, the Attarine Museum and Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, we go ahead exploring more sites walking through the narrow alleys of this labyrinthic medina. Around 4pm we get back to our hotel.

Day 08: Fez – Volubilis – Meknes:

Today will be dedicated to discover more about Morocco and the surroundings of Fez. We will drive from Fez to Volubilis which is known as « Roman ruins ». This archeological site dates back to 250 BC. To better understand the history of the site, we take a local guide to uncover all the secrets of this iconic UNESCO landmark. After doing so, we continue our way to Meknes, nicknamed the ‘Ismailian capital’. It is one of the fourth imperial cities built by Moulay Ismail during the 17th century. The city got few historical sites worth to visit such as Bab Mansour, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum as well as an old stable. Overnight in Hotel/Riad.

Day 09: Meknes – Chefchaouen:

Our trip will take us to the beautiful town in the North part of Morocco. Within Meknes-Chefchaouen route, we drive through few small remoted villages to arrive to Ouazzan and cross Rif Mountains to make it to Chefchaouen. We will arrive to Chefchaouen as early as possible to give you free time to discover this small amazing town. It is known as the white-blue pearl of Morocco because its alleys and streets are all washed with blue color. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 10: Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca:

Right after your breakfast, around 9am we make our departure from the blue town taking direction to Rabat. On our way, we drive via lots of small villages scattering along the road until arriving to Kenitra city then shift right to Rabat via high fast road. Once we arrive to Rabat, we will cover the main historical spots such as: Mohamed V mausoleum and Hassan Tower, then Oudaya Kasbah. After Rabat, our journey continues to the largest city in Morocco. Casablanca is the economic capital with over 4 million population. In Casablanca, we will visit Hassan II Mosque which is the largest and the only open for non-Muslims.  A walk through the Atlantic shore is also a must when in Casablanca. Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 11: Grand Morocco Tour:  Casablanca – Marrakech and medina sightseeing:

In the morning after we enjoy our Moroccan breakfast, we leave Casablanca for Marrakech. We well drive through high way to arrive to the red city. Upon our arrival to Marrakech, we straight away start the walking tour to explore the old medina. Within our visit, we will visit the main important historical landmarks such as: Koutoubia Mosque (External part), Saadian Tombs as well as Bahia Palace. A walk through the Grand Bazar of the medina is inevitable. The Jamaa Fna square is also a must to walk. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 12: Drop off at the airport & end of Grand Morocco Tour:

Upon your flight time, we pick you up from the hotel and transfer you the airport. End of our Grand Morocco Tour services.
